Hella 4000 Wiring Help

I have wanted to kask if anyone can lead me to wiring up my Hella 4000's. SMB Pre wired a "+" and a "-" wire. However, the Hella wiring has 3 wires, Yellow, Blue, and Brown (I think) Which should I connect to. Any experience. Thanks

Re: Hella 4000 Wiring Help

I'd think that a quick look at whatever docs came with the Hella's would have the answer. Or their website.

No answers there. I'm an instructions guy and what came in the packaging stumped me.

Re: Hella 4000 Wiring Help

The yellow coming out of the pig tail is just cut off. At least on mine. Don't have a clue on + or - though. Good luck Ray, if you don't get an answer I can pull the light connector and test it, but I'm on a 56 hour call shift right now and won't get off till 330pm Monday.

Re: Hella 4000 Wiring Help

Hi,

Well here in Sweden we have a lot of these extra Lights.
The are wired with a Relais. Same in the USA?
Here wa have a switch in the Dash for the Light.
Once we turn on the headlights and the switch for the light's, then the Lights glow, hit High-Beams and Boom extra Lights make Daylight.
I can check the wire programm, tomorrow.
Basicly you got +/- and a etra + for glow

Hope this helps.

Yellow is for 'city lights,' like nalle09 said. Tap into your parking light circuit, according to the wiring diagrams I've seen.

So are you guys saying there is a second dim bulb within the housing or some way to make the 4000 Ralley lights legal for roadway use? (I'm not talking about the fog lights rather the 4000 Halogen's).

No. They will not be legal in the US. Some countries allow additional parking lights, that's what the extra lead & bulb is for. But unless you want to have a parking lamp (only useful for street parking), it's just a waste of power to wire this up, as it's intended for others to see not for you to see / use while driving.
Unless there is DOT stamped on the lenses, it's not legal to have them on while on the road in the US.

Re: Hella 4000 Wiring Help

I've got Hella 500's wired up to where they can only come one with my brights. I've never had a problem with the law, even when I passed a sheriff who pulled someone over and I forgot to put them on dim.
