Help me identify a random wiring harness (2002 E250)

I'm in the process of redoing the electrical system in our van. I found this harness coming from the b-pillar with all of the leads cut and wrapped in electrical tape. From what I can tell using a voltmeter is that one of the leads is always connected with the starting battery and another is ignition controlled. There is also a green wire with yellow stripe that loops back and runs to the dome light. The other two are a mystery.

The code on the harness is F5AB-14489-EA. I've tried to google this but it appears to be the code for the connector shell and not the actual harness.

I'm trying to figure out what this harness is actually supposed to do and what fuses/relays control it. I'm assuming it's a factory harness for a house battery but before I connect anything I'd like to know a little more.

The part number on the shell is just for the shell itself---as you've discovered. A usable p/n for the harness is most likely on the tagged wrapped around the harness showing in your photo.

By way of an EVTM you can identify the shell by its location and configuration, the shell then becomes a connector which has specific circuits associated with it. (EVTM's are factory wiring schematic publications that are invaluable for anyone DIY any electrical work on their Ford vans. Here's one by a very trustworthy seller: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2002-Ford-F...NRbNz4&vxp=mtr)

I'd have to do some searching of my own EVTM's from that year but with a bit of experience I'm guessing it could be for a Club Wagon van with full headliner.

An image of the connector with the cavities shown would be greatly helpful.

I've attached some more photos of both the harness (male plug) and the rest of the wiring (female plug).

The label has no useful information. "Harness Made in Mexico 2B"

The colours are as follows:
Black - Ground
Orange - ??? No continuity with ground and no voltage
Yellow - 12v engine on and off (this appears to be a larger gauge, 12 perhaps?)
Black/White - 12v engine on and off
Black/Orange - 12v engine on and off
Green/Yellow - 12v from RKE module
Green/Yellow - 12v to dome light, when the harness is unplugged this loop isn't there and the dome light doesn't turn on when the doors are open.

Black and Orange were connected to the existing house battery. This has me wondering if Orange was ignition controlled and blew a fuse? The alternator has never charged the house battery in the time we owned it. That said, I've pulled every fuse under the dash while trying to diagnose another issue and none of them were blown. (Tedious!)

I'm going to order a wiring diagram but I'm a little pressed for time at the moment and can't wait for shipping to Canada in 2-3 weeks. I tried to pick one up at the dealer yesterday and they obviously said no...

Thanks for the help!

In my EVTM for model year 2002 that same connector has become C339, used for the Trailer/Camper Adapter, Cells 95-1 thru 95-10.

I can identify the various fuses associated with this connector:

Central Junction Box (Inside Cabin)

2.11 = 15A
2.12 = 15A
2.15 = 5A
2.29 = 25A

Central Battery Box (Under Hood)

1.5 = 10A
1.6 = 10A
1.10 = 60A
1.14 = 30A
1.20 = 20A
1.22 = 60A

Nrobert if you have the capability to post the schematics in their entirety for OP he might find that useful. I have only the printed versions.

Sorry I can't be more immediately helpful.

If there's a downside to Ford's scheme of wiring schematics its that from year-to-year they might not share connector numbers or wire colors. They're also known to change locations of any one connector to another cavity, the reason being to simply confuse mechanics or DIY's.

Then again "just because we can......" seems to be the most popular theory by those in the know.

Awesome! Thanks guys!

Pardon my ignorance but what's the difference between a Battery 12V and a Battery B+? My multi-meter shows the same voltage through numerous states (engine on/off).

JWA, in your manual does fuse 2.29 have a name? In mine it says not used. I wonder if instead of blowing a fuse there was never a fuse there and the original upfitter didn't even know. (Which I wouldn't put past them after seeing some of the other stuff they've done...)
