Re: Help please, power for my roof rack

There are switched power supplies under the hood on the driver's side, attached to the steering column, and in the driver's side B-pillar. I believe that circuit is rated for 30A, and should be labelled "modified vehicle power".

Before I went all LEDs, my aux lights would draw more than 30A, so I powered relays directly from the B+ terminal on the power-distribution box with its own 40A maxi-fuse, then powered the signal-switches from one of the switched wires on the steering column.

Rob - you are correct that AUX driving lights must be switched with high-beams, at least in OR and CA. However, they cannot be higher than 54" to be AUX driving lights. Roof mounted lights simply car not legal to use on the roadway, and CA does technically require covers.
