The inventor of the lithium-ion battery and his research partner have developed a low cost, solid state battery that triples the energy density of lithium-ion batteries, is noncombustible, has a long cycle life, high charge and discharge rates, works in subzero weather, and made from environmental friendly materials.
They are currently working on patents and are setting up partnerships with industry to further develop and test the batteries in electric vehicles and energy storage devices.
This could be a serious breakthrough. I'm sticking with my flooded cell G31s right now, but I want a couple of these puppies when they hit the market in 5-10 years!
