Not really.

When I did my solar panel I ran the wire through the PH roof outside the canvas with a watertight feedthrough, and then between the canvas and the top into the interior. Then down like the wiring for the 3rd brakelight wiring.

To get between the canvas and the top, I loosened about three screws at the rear and three on the side where the wire would come out. Wedge a tool between the top and the canvas and from the inside feed a wire snake between the canvas and the inner liner and out the back by the above wedged tool. Pull your wire through, remove the tool and tighten the screws. No chance of any leaks.

You may have to remove bolts to mount your solar panel, I did. I was careful and removed 4 bolts, one at a time. Each bolt was replaced with a solar panel mount in place before the next bolt was removed. Plenty of butyl sealer and no problems in the 6 years since.
