Re: Need to change 4 Pin to 7 Pin Trailer Plug/Brake control

Since I'm using the factory 7-way wiring, the trailer power is switched with the ignition. It runs through the "Trailer B+" relay under the hood.

If it turns out your van does not have the extra 7-way wiring, then you can just add a relay near the battery. One of the connectors below the windshield cowling has both AUX and RUN circuits which you could use as signal power the the relay.

I will have to try and track it down. The connector I found was not the right one. Any pictures?

Re: Need to change 4 Pin to 7 Pin Trailer Plug/Brake control

It is funny that you all mention the 2 similar keyed plugs. When the first tech (new guy) plugged my new prodigy P3 in he could not get it to work. He even tried a new P3. It wasn't until he asked his boss what could be wrong that he was clued in. He was told to find the matching connector and plug it in there. The boss assumed common sense would dictate that you connect to the same color, not so for the tech (different colors were the way to go) . Why Ford would key 2 plugs the same way, they probably thought different colors would make sense to everyone. Why bother with every connector in the van to be different? Any, glad you got it working.
Cheers
Darryl
