New xantrex inverters ?

I was going to order a xantrex prosine 2.0. Dealer said they were DC. I called Xantrex and indeed they will be discontinued next year. The replacement is the Freedom sw 2000, or the rv GS models. The Freedom line is a true sine wave, were the GS is a modified. Seems the 2000 model does not have a remote display offered, but the sw 3000 does.

Does anyone have any input on these?

Re: New xantrex inverters ?

Dad, If I had a choice of a 2000 W/O display or a 3000 with display I would shoot for the 3000. But you might check with them as I'll bet you can interface a high end voltage monitor with either. If you need 3K worth of power, go for it. Ask what more can be seen with a voltage monitor conpared to the standard display that comes with it. And a battery temp sensor is well worth having.

Good Luck

Re: New xantrex inverters ?

I use the 3000 with remote display and it works great! It is the only unit on the market that I could find that could handle the instant amp draw I needed to run my photo equipment in the field. Also works great in the van or motorhome for anything I need. Ran my office computers off it once when the power went out.

Re: New xantrex inverters ?

Looking at the two Xantrex prosine 2.0 and the Xantrex Freedom sw 2000 side by side. The thing I am having a hard time with is that the 2.0 weighs 24lbs, while the sw 2000 weighs 60lbs. Huge difference. I would think they would of gotten smaller and lighter. Maybe something is comming later to be a direct replacement for the prosine models.

I have found a recall for the freedom sw 3000 already.

Wow. Size is another factor. Where you can fit it in might be of concern. Good luck on your choice.
