I like the idea, but I'd really like it at about half that price. You'd think for $100 they'd at least include an LED bulb. I might still consider it if it had the same footprint as my current porch light.

Or buy this unit http://www.hobbytron.com/ce-ck0206.html and rig its relay in parallel with your current outside light switch. At under 25 bucks it's the cheapest 12v motion detector I've found. No, I have not tried this myself - our security motion detector is our Dobie.

Starlight Porch Light
This light could be converted to an LED very easily thru
www.Ledlites.com . I purchased this light when we first got our SportsMobile and found it to be very well made , I returned it because it came to me in White after I was told that Black was available and I thought that would be the color that I would receivewhen I placed the order . You may want to find out if they now have them in Black ,
or you could always use Krylon Fusion Plastic spray paint it works very well.

Hi, the Smartlight does have the same OEM footprint as your old porch light. I hooked up my new Smartlight in minutes. The company has spent allot of time on R&D and it shows It runs around 89.00 and change. It is a security/porch light and works very well in the field test.Will have more info soon.

Each of my porch lights are roughly 6" x 3.5". The technical specs page for Star Lights states the dimensions are 10.37" x 4.167". Are those dimensions wrong?

I think SMB may be changing the size and location of porch lights. Our porch light is well below eye level and shines to light up the ground around the door. It is also smaller that porch lights I have seen in the past and it is round.

A light with "hundreds of lines of programming". Sounds like a bad programmer to me!
