Overland Navigator

A while back, I was encouraged to make a post about Overland Navigator. I realized this morning that I never did. So, while I know that a few of you are running it already I hope this will be a welcome post for those of you who haven't seen our new product yet.

Overland Navigator turns any Windows netbook, laptop, tablet, or UMPC and a cheap GPS puck into an easy to use offroad mapping system. Rather than create tracks/waypoints and download them to your handheld GPS, Overland Navigator is designed to be used in the field as the GPS.

* USGS topographic maps are rich in detail. More than just roads.
* Maps are seamless and automatic
* Record GPS tracks and waypoints
* Ideal for netbooks and UMPCs - Uses the entire screen
* Touchscreen, mouse, and keyboard compatible

See the Video Overview of the features.

See the "Testimonials" section of our website for example installations including Geoff's sportsmobile. http://spatialminds.com/content/Testimonials.htm

Re: Overland Navigator

I'm sure it's cool, but nothing is worth the frustration and hell of windoze.

Re: Overland Navigator

Hey Mac users, just wondering -- Do any of you currently run a Mac on your dash for GPS navigation? Would you mount one there and devote it to that use if there were appropriate software?

Re: Overland Navigator

Geoff, I had once thought about, but there has never been mac software. I don't need it anyway, since my SMB has the Kenwood 7100 Audio/Nav system.

Re: Overland Navigator

I'm not sure if spatialminds made it clear, but the purpose of Overland Navigator is to show your position on topographic maps for backcountry exploration -- maps that provide trail details well beyond those included in a standalone audio/nav system. Jeep trails, rivers, mountains, springs, mines, ruins, etc.

I find myself running two GPS-mapping applications simultaneously -- a streets application for on-road use, and Overland Navigator for backcountry exploring.

Re: Overland Navigator

If you own one of the newer Intel Macs you should have no problem running Windows and Overland Navigator on your machine.
