Re: Permanent Truck Battery Charger

Scalf77,

I store the Yeti in the garage so solar for charging will not work. I have added portable solar to the van. It has a controller on it so it is connect so I can monitor on the link. I agree that I need to go that route. I am currently using the van system to charge house batteries and a stand alone charger/maintainer. I will look at ordering a Blue Sea separator and start the process of figuring out what I need for install.

Thanks.

I would agree you probably don't want it running with inverter running while the alternator is charging. I think your idea of wiring it in before the inverter is the simplest and best solution. You could put a switch on that circuit, or even a relay driven off of van run circuit. I know there are a couple of members that have hardwired in a charger, hopefully they will chime in with their experience.

I believe if you are looking for a house battery charger the Xantrex truecharge2 unit can do multiple batteries.
