so the sPOD folk called a few weeks ago and told me that it's drawing less than I reported (2-3mA) and that it was normal. They suggested I measure power draw when then unit was outside.. It arrived back over Thanksgiving weekend...
I finally did so today, and the unit is still pulling 12mA until I pull the 2A fuse. I guess I can live with it and just turn off the voltage regulator, as it still functions just loses the 'protection'. Even 12mA really isn't that large of a draw though.. (i am going to followup with sPod to confirm what's "normal" over email, and double-check with another multi-meter)
This prompted me to measure power draw of the rest of the van when key is out. I basically stuck my multimeter between the battery and a positive (same result on negative). It seems to show about 300mA (295 to be exact).. Seems to start around 400mA, and get down to 300 relatively quickly. That's an amp-hour every 3 hours or so--enough to drain a battery in a couple of days... Definitely needed a outside help today to start--sat for over a week.
I am going to see what my Tacoma draws, but I suspect mostly nothing.. Any recommendations on what components are prime candidates to check draw?
Spoke to previous owner, and he said he likely drove it frequently enough that he wouldn't have noticed an issue.
