Power Window Problem

My driver's side window on Ford van rolls down and stops about three to four inches short of going all the way down. Other than this, it rolls up and down just fine. Any ideas about what the fix might be?

Thanks,
James

That's weird. Regulator probably. Have you pulled the door panel to see if something is obstructing it?

Good Morning 86Scotty! Thanks for the response. No I haven't pulled the panel as yet, however, one person mentioned using some silicone spray in the window tracks, so I plan on trying that as soon as I buy some.

I wouldn't gunk those up before you take it apart. Your glass will be streaked with it for years. Pull the door panel and take a look first. It's a simple job.

FWIW, I've had no streaking or problems with the silicon spray mucking up the glass, but I can't vouch for what others might experience when they apply it. As to the window sticking, I bet when you pull the panel off, you'll find that the regulator is shot. There's this one white plastic piece that breaks, and then it's down hill from there. In my case, the first symptom was the window sticking at you described, but then when I ignored it, it eventually stopped going back up. You'll certainly know for sure when you pop the door panel off.
