Does the vice not do the job right?
??? ???
Wouldn't crimping it after you solder it potentially crack the solder/bond between the two materials? I have heard of soldering after crimping but not before.

Was still leaning towads the TRIcrimp, but it doesn't look like anyone sells the die for the SB50 powerpole connector separately, you have to but a set of six dies ($55 for the set), one of which accomodates the SB50 connector.

Guess I'll be going with the Andy Pro Crimp instead.

Why don't you buy a short SB50->30A adapter? I know it is an extra connection but then you wouldn't have to cut the SB50 off, and then you could wire everything with 30A's.

Powerwerx will make you that adapter cable if you like, then you don't need to buy a SB50 crimper.

Interesting idea, but I'll have to think about the extra connectors. Powerwerx makes great custom cables, but at the same time, I'd like to be able to make my own at some point, so it comes down how many cables or modifications I ever make and if it's worth it to make my own.

Re: Powerpole crimper

Well looks like the seller will honor any potential warranty issues even if I change out connectors. Of course, that's what they say now, but it's encouraging. Will want to document that a bit more before pulling the trigger, but it should mean that I can stick with the 30A powerpole connectors.
