My Viper Alarm install came with the remote start feature. Its great when you want to use it (I don't very often), but you have to be careful with the key fob - it's possible to activate it unintentionally... Early on I'd returned several times and found the Van running. I'm much more careful now.

Lots of options and all should work just fine. Some even have wait delays for glow plugs these days too.

Have a gas engine if that makes a difference ,and use it daily during the winter.

Generally there shouldn't be too much trouble integrating any aftermarket remote start device---depending on the year of the chassis that is. E-Series are somewhat plain simple whereas most newer remote start systems would be technologically more advanced than the vehicle. As mentioned the "wait to start" feature for glow plugs being one example.

The key to successful operation is installation---once you settle upon a brand and/or model download the installation instructions and see if its something you want to do yourself. If not find a well-reviewed installer who'll do that for you as well as give free follow-up service for any issues related to their work and products.

Without some sort of sub-system that would prevent a vehicle from being driven away when the remote is activated I'd not want one for myself. I'm thinking some sort of brake-pedal temporary shift solenoid disabling triggered by the remote. When the fob holder is ready to drive they could re-instate the shift solenoid via the remote of fob.

Just an idea--------please let us know what you do about adding this sort of device.

I just had one installed on my E-250 Python, really like it.
In the past had them on three of my diesel trucks. Nice in winter cold up in the mountains.

I have the Viper as well and Love it! I had the same problem as Twoxentrix with accidentally starting it just bumping the FOB in my pocket, I opened it up and shaved down some of the rubber nubs that push on the button on the board and no issues now.

Viper 2-way works great, i had the option and could even start it with my cell phone but that caused me a lot of anxiety when i wasn't near the vehicle because it wouldn't tell me whether it was on or off. As it turned out there was a feature that would indicate status but i didn't find out about it until after i sold the van
