Replacement or Alternative to ScanGuage

Has anyone tried one of these OBD2 apps for the iPhone. There are about 50 of them listed on the iTunes store if you search for OBD. DashCommand is the most expensive at $49. I think you also need a device to plug into the OBD2 port that converts the info either to wifi or bluetooth so it can talk to the iPhone.

My display is starting to give out on the ScanGuage and this would allow me to have one less device on my dash.

So, either your iPhone will be where you can't see it, or it will be a bigger device on your dash.

I like having the ScanGauge always in sight.

I have been very happy with UltraGauge. It is cheaper than ScanGauge and shows 8 readings at the same time. You can see how I have it mounted here:

The only problem is that it does not do transmission temperature.

David does it have the ability to read/reset engine codes? I do like the looks of it. If it could piggy back on a scan gauge I'd be interested.

Looking at the UltraGauge website, it seems to have everything a Scangauge has except the ability to do custom (X-Gauge) gauges. It is certainly cheap enough.

You would have the same issue with Dash Command or just about any of the other Iphone versions, for that matter android or PC. They pretty much just do the Generic OBDII outputs. Also a Good OBDII to blue tooth unit will cost as much as the Scan Gauge.
