The Onan microlite 2800 propane version weighs pretty much the same as the gasoline one, but I think the combined weight of the generator + the propane tank + the propane itself is a big argument against it.

Add to that the fact that your running time would be limited by the amount of propane you would be carrying (5 gallons, maybe?), and the difficulty in finding a propane refill station vs. gas, and propane becomes less attractive.

Re: Roof Air and Generator

For me:
vetoed the built in
-- i did not want the noise or vibration attached to the rig
-- i need the XL storage space to keep the interior clutter at bay

vetoed the propane power
-- limited to the stated 5 gal of propane
-- if i use stove for cooking and H2O heater only a little, plenty of propane
-- the generator would have eaten up my supply

decided on:
-- Yamaha 2400
-- stored in custom aluminess box in back
-- yes 25 pounds more but i KNOW it will run my Polar Cub

i am gonna old school siphon the gas for now
will do the tank petcock later
