I just bought a Zamp 2000w inverter for $132 and charge controller kit from Lowes in Torrance, Ca. Bought it online for store pickup and then called them and had it shipped. I'd love to get my hands on 1-2 of the 100 watt panels but they seem sold out everywhere. If anyone knows of a Lowes that still has them, please PM me.

BrianW, last I heard Torrance had the last of the 100 watt panels. I picked up the last one in Orange County but I may let it go since the dimensions don't work with the 60 watts. I plan to check one more store next week to see if they have any more 100 watts. It seems like that is the one item they do stock but don't post online.

"Soft Start" means that their inverters will handle an overload wattage of approximately 50% for a short period when an electric appliance is turned on--this handles the start-up surge.

How much was shipping to PA? They offer "truck" shipping on line for the few places I found them stilk available, but they were asking something like $40.

Air conditioners with Soft Start will not start the fan and the compressor at the same time and they will delay a restart so the compressor can unload. That keeps the serge to a minimum. Some talk about a "soft start capacitor" but I don't know what that is about. Most have a "start capacitor" to start the rotation in the right direction.

Capacitors have an inrush current that is usually pretty high. Can blow fuses and such if they are fast burn.

Supposedly they only charged me $7.99 to ship the 2000w inverter, a 300w inverter, and two of the charge controller kits. I have no idea why it was that cheap, unless they credited me the sale tax since I'm out of state.

Maybe that's their standard rate for shipping for the size/weight of the item. Don't know, but worth a try since all is out of stock in my area. Thanks for the tip!

The Lowes in Irvine CA has about 1/2 dozen 300W inverters left.

I bought a 600W and a 300W inverter......don't really need both......If someone local wants the 600W, let me know...it was 49.00+tax. They had a single 600W unit so I grabbed that one. I'd be happy to sell the 300W to a member as well, but you can likely still get those at the Irvine store.

Although their inventory shows that they have 1000W and 2000W units, they do not have any more of those.
