SMB MAJOR wiring problem!

In the process of rewiring all the SMB switches( I did not like them on the driver kick panel ) I discovered a MAJOR problem. The extreme air is powered off the starter terminal(on diesels) mine was rubbing on the frame and close to shorting ( no fuse no breaker ) This could fry your whole van. I rerouted the wire and put friction tape all over it. The problem with wiring problems is they might not show up for years. Everyone really needs to check this. I now have a 16 terminal fused panel for all my loads.

Cheers

Jeff

P. S. Wait to you hear all my shock adventures....

Jeff,

Where's the new location for the switches, and more importantly, when can we see pics?

Jeff, I'm due in to SMBW within the next week or so and would really like to have this info to give to Peter. Very surprised that there is no breaker although I'm sure that there is a breaker at the starting batteries or are you saying it comes off the main 2 strand or 1/O started lead?

Thanks Dave B

Wiring problem

It looks like a 4 gauge wire to me.

This wire(at the other end) is connected to a solonoid for the Extreme Air.

The frame is about 8 ins from the starter. There is no breaker or fuse in that
8 in, so it would be like a welder at the frame. I wrapped the wire in heat shield. I have pictures, now I have to figure out how to post them.

My pictures can be seen at www.me.com/gallery/#home. Double click on Sportsmobile rewire. ( I think)
