Solar first timer

I'm installing solar on my Ford Econoline 250 next week. I've got a 100 W 12 V renology starter kit. Any suggestions or tips for installation? Things you wish you would have done differently? Thanks y'all!

Use a water tight fitting to go through the roof.

Really decide where you are going to put the battery and inverter. Its a pain to reroute wires later. Use a good inverter and battery. The cost can be high but the performance is higher. 1500 watt pure would be my minimum suggestion. You can also run a fuse block and run all your interior LED's, add a socket for a 12volt blanket, ect.
I've been running a solar unit on my son's race trailer for over a year and it has been 100% maintenance free. Love it.

In my van I run two house batteries via a VSR. It could be easily converted to solar charging.

Renogy makes a cable pass through. Good bet on that.

Fuse everything, oversize your wiring, make good tight connections with well done crimps.

Do you know if anybody has mounted a solar panel on the driver side of their vans? I was thinking of a portable panel, but store it on the side of the van so it generates some juice, but more just as a place to store a portable panel. Thanks, BillPa1
