Solar panel cleaning

Was wondering if there's anything special to cleaning the solar panels, or if they're rugged enough to go through a car wash (brushless!).

Re: Solar panel cleaning

Manufacturers say clean only with clean water using clean soft cloth or clean soft sponge. To remove snow, use soft-bristled brush with soft bristles to gently remove snow. But what do they know?

Re: Solar panel cleaning

Some company's ads state the panels can withstand hail and heavy rain, I bet a conservative wash with a power washer from a DIY carwash would be okay, on the rinse setting so it's not soapy. Just a thought.

Re: Solar panel cleaning

I've cleaned my panels at both DIY spray carwash and brushless automatic washes. I've had no problems. My panels are the older version. Don';t know whether that makes them more, or less, durable.

Re: Solar panel cleaning

I just wash them at the car wash but I suppose you can use something like power boost solar panel soap.

Re: Solar panel cleaning

I use a tiny bit of soap and a soft brush for the wash, then I rinse and squeegee dry -- but the car wash sounds easier.

My original post went 4.5 years without being answered, and now today there are five responses.
