Solara Panel Glue Removal

A question for any of you who have removed the Solara Solar Panels from your Penthouse. What did you use to remove the glue that held them down?

Re: Solara Panel Glue Removal

I had SMB do it but from what they told me it isn't good for the top. I had planned to have the new coating put on anyway because the rack makes it impossible to wax. I think they just used a putty knife. You might call SMB or E-mail them. BTW they did save the panels.

Re: Solara Panel Glue Removal

Hello Dave,
Thanks for the reply. I'll give it a shot.
What kind of coating did you use?

Re: Solara Panel Glue Removal

Bob, It was done by the contractor that SMB uses on all their tops (If requested). It's not Line X but very similar (possibly Rhino but you'd have to check with SMB). It's not rough to the touch like Line X, but non-skid. Just hose it off. So far I love it.
Edit: If you save your panel(s) you can use them as spares for use on the ground. SMB put a plug on my van for this. I just stand the panel up and point it at the sun for some extra power. I store it under the bed.
