Spend some money - Dometic portable power
Hadn't seen this discussed yet, but Dometic is producing a portable 12V power pack to help run your accessories.
12V, 40Ah of Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) bateries with it's own solar charge controller.
https://www.dometic.com/en-us/us/pro...plb40-_-197468
Now that bad news, it sells for $839 on Amazon.

Cool.
I just couldn't help but notice they had to put the cliche picture of a pretty girl sitting in the open back door of a van by the sea, courtesy of 1 billion Instagrammers and counting.

You would have thought they would have given it jump start capability...

Id pick up the Kodiak (first gen) refurbed if you can find one for portable lithium power. Far more feature rich for the price. And the weight on the lithium units is unbelievably light.

I saw these at Mainline Overland (4x4 truck RV builder/vendor near Philly) a few weeks ago. It's a neat little thing although for the price I think I want more than 40 AH.

Definitely. And double that and you can start getting into some of the a la cart systems. I suppose it really depends on what your planned power needs will be.

I also checked into Powerwerx's battery box and LiFePO4 battery combo. I like the less-is-more simplicity of it (e.g. no inverter), but it requires a special charger, they don't recommend charging via a vehicle DC system, and it can only be charged by solar if the solar controller can put out a "constant 14.6VDC".
Kinda defeats the purpose of having backup DC power, if you need special charging options to charge it while off the grid.

I got one of these ecoflow river backups 114 Ah to keep in the van, I have not used it yet and certainly wasn’t cheap but after researching a bunch of these settled on it. Figured better too much than not enough, and the portability still seemed pretty good. Agree with the comment that it would be nice if it had jump start capability too but I didn’t find any like that. I guess there might be some significant design challenges with adding that functionality? Like adding a defibrillator into a pacemaker

I’ll update when I’ve had a chance to use it but may be a few months.

Isn't that called a CRT-D? Or am I missing something?
