I thought I would follow up, as I just found this on the Blue Sea Site

The 7615 ATD can be configured to be used as one of the following battery saving products
  • Timer Disconnect
    12V signal triggers relay to connect battery power to devices
    When signal is removed the timer is activated and will disconnect devices after a preset time
    Timer ranges from 15 minutes to 4 hours
  • Low Voltage Disconnect
    Senses low battery voltage and automatically disconnects devices
    Low voltage setting can be used in conjunction with Timer Disconnect. Low voltage will disconnect devices prior to preset time to preserve battery power
  • Automatic Charging Relay
    Automatically combines two batteries when charging, and isolates them when discharging
    Single side sensing design only monitors the voltage of the start battery
    Ideal for auxiliary batteries that are AGM or significantly larger than the start battery

The Automatic Charging Relay setting make's it a uni-directional ACR.

Blue Sea 7615 ATD Automatic Timer Disconnect - Star Marine Depot



If looking for other uni-directional units SurePower has the 3104 that uses a Magnetic Latch Relay also, it handles 300 amps.


The Surepower 3104 can be configured as
  • Uni-Directional Battery Separator:
    This mode is used to charge two batteries from one power source. In this mode, the unit monitors the "main" battery. When the main battery voltage is above the connect threshold, the solenoid connects the two batteries together. When the main battery voltage drops below the disconnect threshold, the solenoid is opened. In this mode, the connect threshold is usually set to a voltage that is only reached when the charging system is operational. This will cause the solenoid to only close when the charging system is operational, charging both batteries. The RCM pin must be grounded in a battery separator application.
  • Bi-Directional Battery Separator:
    This mode is used to charge two batteries from two sources. In this mode, both batteries are monitored. If either battery is above the connect threshold the unit will close the solenoid. If the batteries are below the disconnect threshold the unit will open the solenoid. The voltage settings for the bi-directional battery separator remain the same as the unidirectional battery separator. The RCM pin must be grounded in a battery separator application.
  • Low Voltage Disconnect (LVD): In this mode, the unit monitors the battery voltage. When the battery voltage drops below the disconnect voltage, the unit opens the solenoid, removing power from the load. The solenoid closes, powering the load.

I agree, for people that are looking for a uni-directional Blue Sea ACR the 7615 ATD certainly fits the bill. I also like the fact that it is programmable for multiple purposes. Nicely done

You can wire a switch in to force it closed if you did want to top off your starters, or use as start assist.

I can vouch for BlueSea electrical products, distributed by West Marine, built for saltwater boat cruising (expensive but worth it)

The capacity of this item is really driven more off the size of your house battery and alternator. I would also take in to account if I had diesel or gas and if you want't to use as emergency jump start.

One 4D battery and standard alternator would be fine using the 7610 (bidirectional)or 7615 (Unidirectional).

If you have a larger battery bank and/or larger alternator, you may want to look at the 7622. These are all made by Blue Sea and are all high quality.

The below chart is of Lifeline 4D 65% discharged and with V10 and 140 Amp(?) alternator.


I would tend to purchase new.

Ok great info Greg with some specs I can understand to get me started pricing my system!
