Will Honda2000 run Starcool?

This is my first post and I tried the search but couldn't find
an answer. I have been looking the last year for "my" B and
the Sportsmobile looks good. I don't want to pass one that
doesn't have a generator when if the honda or some other
small one would work to run the Starcool which is a necessity
for me. Thanks

Not sure if it will run the starcool, but the eu2000 is a super handy thing to have if you own an SMB. I use ours on every camping trip and it quickly charges the batteries. It is also quiet and fuel efficient. Give SMB a call and they will know how many watts are necessary for starcool.

It is surely nice as I have seen one in action. I called the Indiana plant and she didn't know so I will call the other 2 locations. Will report back what I find.

Looking at the 12v and 110v typical requirements page in my handy new users manual, the stats for the starcool are as follows:

12v amps/hr 110 amps/hr Running Watts
starcool (on High) 24(8)(1) (7) 16.2 1944
starcool w/gen (O) 24(8)(1) (7) 13.2 1584

Re: Will Honda2000 run Starcool?

This is my first post also.....

We have ordered our SMB but will not take deliver for quite some time....

It is my understanding that there is a new version of the StarCool in Beta test right now; I guess it would be StarCool IV.

THis new version is suppose to draw fewer amps and to be able to run for a while on battery only. THis is supposed to allow running the AC when you are stopped for lunch at a rest stop or some such place....

We talked about the ability to run the StarCool on generator power because we also have a Honda 2000i. We had two conversations, one about the III and one about the IV, and I think they are no longer completely seperated in my brain.

I think that the jist was that the IV will run on a Honda 3000i, but that a 2000i might not keep up. ...but this part I feel I am not remembering completely so it needs to be verified...

I called Texas and got no answer, California SMB wouldn't sell me parts, duh but transfered me to a salesman who didn't answer. So I still want to know if the h2000 will start and run an older(2000 or so model year) Starcool AC.

Based on Buji's data above, the answer appears to be no. Honda recommends not trying to run anything needing above 1600 or so continuous watts on the 2000 generator. Looks as if the starcool requires nearly 1950.

StarCool on a Honda 2000

When I bought my SMB, I was told that the StarCool would NOT run on the Honda 2000. They said it should run on a Honda 3000.

They recommended a 2800 watt or higher generator, PLUS using a 30 AMP circuit for shore power or generator. Do NOT use a 15/20A adapter if using the StarCool.

If anybody finds out that the new generation of StarCool will definitely run on the Honda 2000 AND that a retrofit is available, PLEASE let us know.
