Will the Yamaha 2400 gen run my Starcool A/C?

I'm looking at getting a portable gen, trying to decide on 2-2000's or one 2400 watt Yamaha. The 2400 is cheaper that 2 -2000's, but will a 2400 one run my Starcool A/C? My van is an 04' Ford that wasn't converted until mid-2005. What is the wattage draw of the A/C?

I believe you'll need a 3000 watt to run it safely. If I recall 2800 was the limit but SMB suggests 3000 to cover the start up load.

Use a 3000w minimum because the “Startup” draw of the A/C (condenser) is higher than the running draw and low voltage can damage your A/C unit.

Thanks all, I guess the 2400 won't do. Now another question, can these generators be carried inside the van without special venting? I assume there would be gas fumes and maybe left over exhaust fumes. Should I get a hitch carrier/box for the generator and gas can?

Mine had a cap/vent that shut off but like any engine some smell will be around. Kind of up to you.
