xantrex 3000 x power plus

Does anyone have this model inverter/ charger. I would like to know the advantage/ disadvantages of changing over to this model. I have a 2001 with a trace legend v 1.0 inverter/ charger. I have had no problems with it, but I do believe it is a dinosaur as electronics are concerned. The 3000 is lighter, and can handle much more. I have a line on some new ones cheap, so thought I might get one to replace the old. Any thoughts Pro or Con?

Do you need 3000 watts? I'd make sure it doesn't pull more to operate something small compared to a similar model rated for 2000 watts (unless you actually plan to use 3K worth of power). I think my 2000 W prosine pulls about 3 amps when fired up and not running anything.

I'm with Dave. I had a Xantrex Prosine 2.0 and it did everything I asked of it. That's what I'm going with the next time I'm in the market for an inverter. Ran my microwave and fridge with zero problems. I did not have a TV and DVD, so can't tell you if it would have handled that as well, but I certainly suspect as much.

Go with the Prosine 2.0. We originally had the next model up... the "smart" model,.... but it actually had some issues using battery and generator together to run the Danhard AC. SMB, Danhard and Xantrex techs could not get it figured out after trying a second unit. Luckily this was during our build.
