Aluminess Tire Carrier

I had an Aluminess tire carrier put on the Sprinter at SMB West. I think a lot of you have Aluminess products. Does any one have a latch like this . . .

I was wondering if there is a way to put a lock on it?

Regards,

Keith

Yes, I have contacted the host. Let's hope it won't be too long.

You can see pics of what appear to be the same latch cartiridge as on the Aluminess bumpers for the Fords here.

The only way to lock the swingarms on my bumper is to lock them together through a protrusion on each swingarm that have holes on them that line up together (sorry no pic to clarify my lousy explanation). You can them place a padlock through the aligned holes.

Dave Hoskins from Aluminess was nice enough to get right back to me. For the Sprinter rack the only way is to use a strap around the latch housing and latch bracket.

That works fine for me as it is something I can easily check just by looking. I'll pick up a strap at Home Depot or maybe find one in the garage.

Regards,

Keith
