The thin cable wires are attached to the underside of the PH. There are two at the front and one at the back. There are corresponding cleats attached to the bed. When the wire is attached to the cleat the bed rises up and out of the way when the PH is raised. When detached, the bed stays in place when the PH is raised.

Wow, I didn't realize that the grey was so grey and the tan canvas was so tan.

Mine has seen better days. Lots of stains and fading.
