Poptop rubber edge

Hello,

I am repairing my poptop this summer. It's a 2006 Ford RB with SMB poptop. I am considering replacing the rubber edging that runs around the poptop while I do everything else. I searched the forum but didn't see if someone has replaced this before. Did you find a match for it from a auto parts supplier or get it from SMB?

I found the buttons that hold it on and have those already.

Thanks,

Brian

Think this is what you're looking for.

Probably a good time to inspect the tape that protects the roof from being rubbed by the penthouse gasket. Check for rust around the edges that may indicate rust hidden underneath the tape.

Excellent. Thanks guys. Of course, it comes with fasteners that I already bought... :^)

Thanks. The roof tape looks good. There are two tiny spots on the rear two roof corners where the poptop was rubbing outboard of the tape, but they are clean metal with no rust.

This has turned into a much bigger project than expected, but I want to get it all fixed at once. I'll post a detailed thread when I'm done.

The edge trim doesn't come with holes....I used a single hole puncher to poke the fastener holes.

If you want to go upscale you can use binder bolts for fasteners...that's what I used, starting on post #42 here:

I just did mine a month or so ago and just bought the SMB stuff. There are some similar looking gaskets available on McMaster but nothing identical and it actually isn't all that much cheaper.

A quick note on the plastic fasteners:
When I installed a new gasket on the top of my '84, the plastic fasteners actually hit the van roof and prevented the top from sitting down all the way in the rain gutter until I trimmed the back sides. The roof profile of the 92+ vans may not have this issue - YMMV.

I have one that I would sell new in the box. I bought it from another guy here but sold my van before I got the chance to install it.
