Re: SMB Cutaway Project?

carringb, I didn't even see that part of the page regarding the listing of the 6-speed auto transmission on the Econoline info page. I just went to the page and immediately clicked on the Build & Price. But I still wonder why they didn't do this with the van and wagon for at least 2013 or 2014. Would be nice to get a cargo van with the 6-speed auto. So I guess the new Sportsmobile SMB Classic will be a 6-speed auto which would be nice. If only Sportsmobile would do some kind of announcement regarding their Cutaway 'Classic' sometime now. There are some articles out there that talk about it but nothing on the Sportsmobile site or even pictures posted anywhere. I wonder too about the Transit but I know the Transit is still rolling out. So patience, I guess.

I'm curious carringb, do you plan on getting a Sportsmobile or keep that Econoline Dually you have? I sure like that van of yours.

Re: SMB Cutaway Project?

The SMB cutaway certainly has piqued my interest. For now, what I've got is still working pretty well. I could even add a top and kitchenette for a fraction of a new build, and give me everything I wish I had now. I've already got a front axle waiting for me a QuadVan, so at the very least I'll keep driving the current van until SMB has a couple years to refine their new product. Also, flexibility of flooplans in their new body would definitely be a factor. I really like more a transformer build with lots of windows. The 6-speed is certainly another incentive to consider an upgrade at some point. And who knows... if a tree ever fell on the van, or some other random incident... upgrading would be a much easier decision
