SMB Lumbar Support

Does anyone have the SMB lumbar support? I am considering having my front captains chairs upgraded to leather. However, I don't like that the OEM ('09) seats are essentially concave.

Opinions welcome.

Re: SMB Lumbar Support

I had the air inflated one added to the drivers seat a couple years ago. My wife always laughs when I pump it up because it looks like I am checking my blood pressure.

I would say it is marginal IMO. It is way better than without, but the bulge it creates in the seat is bit too pin point for my total satisfaction. I would prefer a more contoured shape to the lumbar support. Again, way better than without though.

Re: SMB Lumbar Support

Yes, we ordered the adjustable lumbar air support system too and find it a better option than none. However, you could get more out of it if it were installed to fit you. By that I mean the exact location in the backrest could be better for you at the right height. Give SMB an idea of where you want the bulge in inches from your seat. I say this because the bulge is so slight.

Sounds like another good call. I'll ask if the location is adjustable at install.

Thanks!

Re: SMB Lumbar Support

I have the support you adjust by turning a knob. It works for me but I really like the heat as well. I think someone sells seat covers the have support and heat, but I don't know how well they work.

Wet Okole has optional lumbar support and heat. I'm thinking about them but still haven't pulled the trigger. More info in this thread.

Re: SMB Lumbar Support

Yea, I thought about Wet Okole. However, when I dropped off my van I sat in someone's shiny new green van which had the leather upgrade to the OEM seats. Very nice.

They also seemed to have some lumbar support vice the none in my seats, although they did not have the adjustable lumbar support.
