Arb awning and tent on lifted van?

I’m looking purchasing an awning and tent from ARB but am nervous about it mounting too high. My gutter is about 7’6” and the awning will probably mount just a few inches above that on my rack (standard cargo van ladder rack with nice flat side faces to bolt things too).

I believe the tent is only about 6’7” ceiling to floor. Has anyone tried this on a lofted van? Any issues with the side doors opening when the awning is out and slightly sloped downward? I figure I could add a stilt or something to the outer legs but still have the issue witht tent room height.... trying to avoid a costly trip to a canvas shop to modify the tent if I get one.

Thanks for any advice.

It isn't a big deal. I've got the ARB awning and the tent room on my lifted 4x4 van.

The floor ends up being a bit like a bathtub not totally flat. I did find that shifting the awning a few inches forward of the front door helped with the zippered opening closest to the van.

Ok great thanks for the reassurance. Any chance you have a photo of it set up and could tell me how high from the ground the underside of the unextended awning is?

With the tent “bathtub” like do you run the risk of ripping it if you step too close to the edge?

With the material arb uses I don't think it will rip. The chance of tripping is there I guess. Just measured 7 feet 3 inches to awning. No photos of room set up sorry.

I have done it. It works pretty well. I don't have exact measurement where and how far forward my awning is installed, but I can check if you want to know more.

Thanks. We did our first trip this weekend and had a blast. The awning worked out great. I think I’ll have to lower it a little closer to the rain gutter to use the room as it’s now a few inches up.

Do you have any issues with the floor edges being suspended?
