Re: Cook Set

Dave ,
We apparently have that complete set of the Frying Pans as well as the shown Pot Set that was a gift from my oldest Son .
Joann generally packs one of the two smaller Fry Pans for the two of us and all three when our twelve Grand sons and one Grand daughter are along with our kids and and us on our family
outings . Note I was just reminded that the Sauce Pans are also included when we do our large group outings . My Daughter also has the Frying Pan set and loves them .

Re: Cook Set

Thanks Gregg, I'll give them a call. I really need a metal lid because some recipes I use require it and cooking outside makes stuff get cold fast. Overall, easy cleanup is what counts for me and the stuff has to be durable.

Re: Cook Set

Certainly not as light, but I purchased this a couple of years back. Magma A10-365L. http://www.magmaproducts.com/Product.../a10-365l.html

They don't qualify as light weight, but the set is nesting, and fits nicely in the side door cabinet. Search for the best price, as I have seen them any ware from $160 to $249. You can also get the Stainless Steel only model Magma A10-360L.

Re: Cook Set

Incidentally, the Magna set in stainless was rated as the best available for marine use by Practical Sailor magazine. Which for those who don't know, is a small, distinctly unglamorous magazine that does not accept any advertising, aimed at people who actually use their gear.

Great, something else to spend money on. I like the nesting idea. Did you get the all stainless, or the teflon coated? If teflon, has it held up well?

Re: Cook Set

Magma makes Top Notch equipment , I have never used their Pots and Pans , but I have two of their Grills and accessories for them that we use for the Boats . One of the Grills is at least twenty five years old used a great deal and still looks and performs as good as new . I really like their ability to nest so neatly .

Agreed. I searched on other nesting cookware, and aside from backpacking stuff, I did find a Cuisinart set (all stainless) but it looks like it's been discontinued (found one or two sites that still have them).

I also like the way those fit inside each other but I wonder what happens to the coated set when bouncing all over the trail. I also did some searching on the coating they are using and was a bit surprised.

Re: Cook Set

Another point of view on Teflon. I am sure DuPont would/does have a different slant.

http://eartheasy.com/blog/2009/01/healthy-cookware/

see about 1/3rd of the way down "Teflon and Silverstone"

http://www.ehow.com/list_6531918_danger ... kware.html

We do use some Teflon coated cookware (pots) but are moving more and more (is is back?) to fry with well seasoned cast iron cookware.
