Isn't there some sort of pressure issue w/ these propane canisters/tanks? Just dumping some propane from one into the other seems a bit... scary to me....

From what I've been told, and it makes sense, the 16 oz. is designed for the same pressure as the bigger bottles. Unless you've got some ungodly pressure pump doing the transfer, you'll be fine. I would be a little concerned about refilling one too many times as there really are designed for a single use.
I do remember, way back in the olden times, that there were some of the little bottles that were designed for refilling and they had a relief valve built in. They haven't been around in decades, or so I'm told.

I've only been around for decades and I've seen the little greenies with a release valve (always wondered why there was a schrader valve in some).

I think one obvious problem would be with leaking once refilled. As long as they are attachec to something that can be shut off they're fine, but even the new ones will leak if I pull them off the stove or lantern fixture.

I actually keep a propane torch around because I can store half used bottles with it installed and they take up less space.
