Re: Engel 45 with TwoZone top or Engel Combi 60

Crap! I just made the mistake of seeing what compactappliance was currently selling the edgestars for The 86 qt is now only $498 with free shipping. Oh well...

Anyway, thought some of you would like to know that they are on sale.

Good news for me! Compact Appliance has a 10 day price guarantee that I am assuming applies to their own price drops. Anyway, I have shot them an email since my order was only 8 days ago and looks like I should get back $141. I was really happy with the fridge at $639 but at $498 I am ecstatic!

Based on generally favorable reviews on Expedition Portal, I went ahead and orderd the 43qt version of the Edgestar. This will be a supplemental fridge/freezer to my SMB Norcold (provided it keeps working), and will be used in my Bronco as well. I should have lots of real-world, dusty, bumpy road experience to share by early May, after getting back from 5 days in Utah's backcountry with Bill Burke.

One other reason I went ahead and ordered this fridge were the favorable comments on the customer service provided by Compact Appliance. It's something you don't hope to need, but it's good to know it's there. Given how I intend to use the fridge, I went ahead and got a three year extended warranty. I'm generally not a fan of extended warranties, but 3 years for $59 wasn't a bad deal.

The build quality seems really good. I have yet to take it off trail or even out of the driveway yet but I am happy so far. I also based my purchase decision on all the really good reviews and reports out of expeditionportal.com check there for some more long term reports.
