Fantastic Fans

We have two Fantastic fans mounted in our current van roof. When we have the penthouse installed they will both be "cut out" of the roof. We do like them. The newer low power draw multi-speed one that can be very quite is mounted close to heads (when sleeping). The older 3 speed (higher power draw model) is mounted just aft of the front seats. On a hot, humid night they can be very effective in moving air. I am thinking of mounting them on the penthouse roof w a similar location arrangement. Anyone else done this and what are the pros and cons you have found. I have noted that Jage on his green Ford van has a single one mounted in front of the penthouse (over frt seats).

Of course putting them up on the penthouse roof also depends if there real estate available for them without cutting through anything "important".

You will have to cut through some of the wood roof sections to mount a Fantastic fan. Used to have one in our old popup camper and loved it. However, cutting through the roof support was something I just couldn't do. And SMB doesn't reccomend it either. They suggested anothe little (6") fan instead.

We do find however, there is enough window area in the penthouse to get adequate ventilation. When we need more, we mount a Fantastic Fan window fan in one of the lower windows blowing out.

Re: Fantastic Fans

I use one of those portable Fantastic fans. I never really used it until I hit a area that never dropped below 80 degrees at night and it was priceless. I can move it around to where it's needed. Pulls about 3 amps on high.
