Re: Flash lights

I use a flashlight every night at work. I'm a big fan of Surefire lights. I've done everything short of driving my semi over them trying to break them. They keep going. I did break a few bulbs in my old trusty P2 by dropping it. But I always carry a spare bulb just in case. Since I switched to the newer LED lights I haven't had a failure yet. This is my current work light. At 200 lumens it gets the job done.

Re: Flash lights

While camping I try not to use a flash light except when trying to find something or there is less then a 1/4 moon out. What I normally use are 2 cell AA small mag lights. If I am working at night I will use a head lamp so hands are free. If you use a large light you blind yourself in every direction except for where the light is pointed. $10 - $20 mag lite of equivalent are fine with me. If I want to light up an area for several hours I will get out the Colman lantern.

Re: Flash lights

I have several different Streamlights (some of which already mentioned):

Ultrastinger for maximum light output.

Strion (not LED) to keep on my belt.

Survivor LED for fixing things on vehicle, long duration etc. Nice wide light output and long run time, and I keep one of these in both of my vehicles in a charger.

Re: Flash lights

I suppose I should mention the cheap ol' Stanley Tripod light that I always carry. It stands up and can point at my work area if I have a breakdown at night.

Not a great light, but it has a couple of great features with the tripod and pointable head.

Re: Flash lights

A great reference sight for all of the latest and greatest Lights is www.goinggear.com .
They are also a a good source for Bug Out Gear and very nice to deal with . He provides a series of Youtube light demonstrations and comparisons that are very informative and link to other useful sights . He is also the only source that I have found for the 8 Strand 550 Paracord .
