This Halon extinguisher can be mounted under the hood and will automatically release when needed. Other trigger temps can be ordered for use inside the van.
Dave ,
I looked at these earlier and couldn't figure out where I could mount it . I went to our local Hot Rod Store and the manager was kind enough to let me go out and try to find a location that it would effectively fit under the Hood . I personally feel that two of them would be a great addition to our Vans .

I drove rallye cars in Europe for a living and just as I was getting out of the sport (its a young mans game) they were fitting 'plumbed' fire systems into the cars along with a battery isolator/emergency cut off - After a very bad accident and fire in a Lancia Stratos that burned and killed the driver and co-driver. The bottle is remote from the nozzles and it is simple copper tube to the engine bay and trunk. ( I know we don't have a trunk)
That is worth looking into spomo1 ,
The speed shop that I went into suggested a similar set up . I will have to look into this as I feel that an under the hood and one in the conversion would be a great idea . And I am sure I could find a suitable location in our EB-50 , thank you for the suggestion .

Does anyone really read this stuff other than surfgeek?
I don't have current research but the Rallye Car version was a single tank with a pipe to under the bonnet (AKA HOOD) and one to the boot (AKA TRUNK) so plumbing in two or even three nozzles into the engine bay, including the dog house (the engine bay is HUGE compared to a small European car) seems like a very good idea.
Being Halon is a gas I would think a single extinguisher under the hood might do provided the vehicle isn't moving fast. The engine compartment is fairly tight on a van. I don't know what effect the fan would have but an automatic release extinguisher is probably most usefull when the engine dies and something goes wrong. Burning fuel could be hard to put out but a burst of Halon could give you some time to react. It would be nice to have a manual release unit as well.
