Interior coffee maker?

Just curious if anyone has a mounted coffee maker in their SMB? We love our coffee and think it would be nice to wake up in the morning, flip on the inverter and make a pot of coffee.

Re: Interior coffee maker?

I can't start the day without a cup of Joe. We have a small electric brewer that fits under the sink in the cabinet along with the toaster. Hit the inverter brew coffee and toast a bagel or english muffin with blueberry jam. The toaster takes a big hit on the battery but we have never had a problem. We have a 4D batt with a 68 watt solar panel. Works for us.

Re: Interior coffee maker?

I have a 110v Black and Decker super cheapo. It says max draw is 600 watts. My inverter is 700 watts. The inverter buzzes loudly while it's brewing. It makes four cups so it doesn't stay plugged in for long. I keep the engine running just in case. I'm usually in the middle of nowhere, and it would suck to be stranded over a cup of coffee. The coffee would be the best thing in that situation.

I have factory dual batteries wired in serial. I'd like to add another axillary battery behind the current one on the frame rail, isolate them with a smart isolator. Then the van will always start off the main battery even if the two aux are dead.

I have a cheapo 4 cup model too. I think mine is Mr. Coffee (bought at Target). I keep mine on the counter all the time. I used heavy duty velcro on it as well as a few other items. Use it all the time. It has never fallen or moved, even on offroad trails.

Re: Interior coffee maker?

We're oldschool and don't have the big inverter in our rig. We use a stove and percolator. Very reliable.

The last rig had a coffee maker.

Whatever you do , don't even touch the cigarette plug coffee makers that are on the market. They all are terrible and take forever to make coffee (if you can get them to function properly).

The only dark liquid to cross me lips be rum - arggggg matey.
But the missus does drink that swill. We just boil water on the stove and pour it one cup at a time thru a paper filter, with grounds, directly into her cup.

Hey you whippersnappers! What ever happened to good old camp coffee like we drank on fishing trips back in the day? You just throw some ground coffee in the pot, dump in water, and put it on the fire. It gets better as time passes...

Still one of my favorite ways to brew coffee. We have plexiglass one for the van that we've been using for 5+ years now.
