Leveling Your SMB

Since I'm constantly using this forum asking questions and gathering information I've realized that I need to make contributions as well. I know this one is not a huge contribution, but hopefully it helps some one some day.

I have to admit I love the convenience of our SMB in setting up and breaking down camp. Especially coming from tent camping. In fact, it has become addicting and I'm always trying to find new ways to make it easier.

I always used to level our SMB using wood and rocks. However, I recently purchased the Fiamma Level Up ramps and we got to use them this past weekend in Big Sur. They worked great. They were incredibly easy to use.

The only downside is that they do take up storage space. I purchased mine at Northwest Expeditions. I would definitely recommend doing business with them if you are inclined.

We've been using these for years...a pair will take care of nearly any situation in developed campgrounds (while boon-docking, it is easier to dig holes if needed and fill them in when you leave). After using them for a while, it is pretty easy to quickly look at a torpedo level and know, not only where to put them but how far up to drive on them...

I've been using Linx levelers

They store a bit easier as they become a regular shape, and you can build whatever crazy stack seems appropriate. I use 2 sets and used them all at Death valley- I'd like to add a 3 set, which is a bit much but I'm all about overkill.

Where did you find your Linx levelers? I started out with some Lego type ones from Camping World and there there a bunch of junk for the weight of our vehicles....

Mine came from an RV store in Tucson.

Here's the manufacturer's website: http://www.lynxlevelers.com/

jage...

Are they made from nylon or something like that? They look like the plastic ones that I once used...

levelers

The LynxLevelers are Linear Polyethelene and very easy to store , and can be used in numerous configurations . We have four sets and vary the number that we pack depending on the type of terrain that we will encounter there are two sets with us at all times .

Before we bought our SMB, we picked up two sets of the yellow blocks that are now sold at Camping World. They are probably ten years old now, and have had no problem with the weight of our SMB.

Levelers

The yellow blocks are basically the the same item as the LynxLeveler , in fact I think that they are heavier duty , I have looked at them on a couple of occasions at Camping World .
