Maps?

Can anyone point me in the right direction for a proper map of Death Valley? There seems to be a lot to choose from. Ive always had good luck with the red gazetteer maps, but having some good details of the park is alway nice. Ive also been looking over past trip threads and getting some very nice info, thank you.
Nice winter camping and Hot springs is what we are primarily after.
Thank you

I do like the idea of apps and downloadable stuff, However I feel like Im stuck between new and old technology. Nothing like a good hard copy map in the van. I was hoping that there might be some latest greatest map/book that is still relevant to the park. Sometimes the old books are outdated do to permanent road closures and areas just shut off to the public.
I will look into you're suggestion on the Gaia GPS app!
Thank you!

The DV Visitor Center sells very good park maps. The Ballarat store also sold an excellent park map.

I understand what you mean. I don't like not to have some hard map in VLV either. But usually my paper maps are more global, not so detailed, just in case of an issue of the iPad or to plan the route of a long trip. In the field, I use Gaia GPS which has been really reliable so far. You can prepare routes in advance, follow those on the trip and of course register tracks of your journey, add POI, etc. I find it really useful.

X-2 on the paper maps.

But nothing works better than real USGS maps and GPS tracking software. At least you know really where you are.

I also keep PDF maps on the PC.

I've printed a few maps out and laminated them with some clear contact paper that I had left over. If you are buying abunch of maps it would be worth it to pick up a roll are make yourself a little map book.

The one you want is the folding, waterproof "Death Valley Nation Park" by Tom Harrison Maps available through Amazon

GPS coordinates for Saline Valley warm springs is N36.805581 W117.773641
