Mesh ground cloth?
Some pals of mine use these big ground cloths made of the same tough polyester mesh that Roll-a-Cots and other sorts of camp furniture are made of. Fairly lightweight, water drains through it, yet it keeps your feet off a lot of the dirt, dust and mud. And you can easily clean it. SMB made a windshield cover (external) that I have made out of the same material, but white.
I found something that seems similar in a 6x6 "kitchen groundcloth" for whitewater camping, but I'd like something bigger.
Anyone know what this stuff is called so I can find where to buy some? Looks like you could easily add grommets and make you own if you could find the fabric.
TIA,
Rob

Re: Mesh ground cloth?
Does it actually work for dirt too, and not just fine sand?

Re: Mesh ground cloth?
I have the 10x10 so it seems to clean off the bottom of your shoe. large stuff stays on top but its easy to flip off. dont know about mud.

Re: Mesh ground cloth?
Looks good! I use a simple mat under the side door and in front of my steps when I attach them. The main advantage is that I can still pee out the side door in the middle of the night and aim away from the mat to hit ground. Did I mention that I am male? Female mileage may vary.

Mesh ground cloth?
Both dogs love it to role on once set out and no I have not taken a pee on it that I remember. It is thicker then you think and has a little cushion.

Re: Mesh ground cloth?
My pals have them and they're even bigger than 10x10. Works even on that fine SE Utah dust that's like talcum. It's heavier than that sunshade mesh you can get for gardens, but it also works as a sun screen if you get a light color. I'd love to find place to get the fabric unfinished.

Re: Mesh ground cloth?
I don't see any specs on the folded size. I have an outdoor "RV rug", but the thing is fairly large and awkward when folded, so this might be a good alternative if it folds up compactly.
