This is what I did. Pretty much the farthest from "cheapo" that you can get. We have lots of gravel roads up here and also mud flap laws so wanted something that protected my van but at the same time added to its looks, not take away.
I went with a 1" offset powder coated stainless steel upper bracket with a 14" mud flap, both Gatorback brand. This bracket is the least obtrusive for rubbing while turning if you are short on clearance. In the states, Justin at sharptruck.com carries these parts. You can go 12" or 14" wide depending on your tire size. Also you can pick between a galore of logos or just get plain black.
