Re: Porta Potti usage info?
Like Jage said, you need to use a deodorant designed for these toilets. And I've had the same problem with the liquid stuff...it leaks out of the bottle too easily and is very difficult to clean up once it does.
We are now using the Thetford Aqua-Kem Dri packs:
http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/it ... m-dri/9112
I think that they are different from the pillows that Jage mentions. They are for larger tanks but I just cut the corner of a packet and sprinkle some in the bottom of the holding tank and add enough water to just cover the bottom of the tank. I then fold over the cut corner of the packet a couple of times and put it in a Zip-Lock. No waste and it works just as good as the liquid stuff.

Re: Porta Potti usage info?
Our porta potti gets used sparingly, mostly at night by my wife. We tend to be out in the boondocks so a shovel is mostly what we use. Before we bought our Sportsmobile, we used to camp in my wife's Astro van. We had purchased a small Thetford porta potti. We still use the small one in our Sportsmobile instead of the larger one that came with the SB. We use the cover that SB provides and put it between the two front seats. This frees up the large compartment for other things. oclv

Re: Porta Potti usage info?
We use TST Liquid by Camco http://www.camco.net/Menu.cfm?SupCatego ... uctId=2010
I use about an ounce in the bowl after emptying and there is never any smell from the waste tank even when it is used for "Number 2."
We bought it at a local marine shop but I am pretty sure Camping World carries it. It has a small measuring chamber and seals tightly and we have never had any problem with spilling. We store it under the sink on our EB50.

Re: Porta Potti usage info?
We use this specially formulated Deodorant Cleaner as well with great success , this formula has a long evolving history from the Thetford Corporation AKA Camco . You should always try to use the bio degradable Toilet Paper that is made for these static portable toilet's , it will make the job of servicing more pleasurable and will actually give you a small margin of additional capacity , this paper will be available at most RV , Camping and Marine outlets .

Re: Porta Potti usage info?
Hi all!
Thanx for all your input!!!
Another question I have after some use of the Campa Potti:
How do you leave the Potti when not in use? Clean of course, but do you leave fluid in it? Or do you leave it out of doors with the trap open?
I am worried the waste tank will start smelling even if completely clean...

Re: Porta Potti usage info?
Sabbman ,
After cleaning I have always added the prescribed amount of the waste tank fluid , whatever brand that you have chosen along with a quart or so of water , closed the Knife Valve and stored in away in a temperate location . Ours stays in the cabinet in our EB-50 at all times without any problems of odor .
I also keep the upper fresh water tank filled to capacity so that it is always ready to go .

Re: Porta Potti usage info?
Yes I guess you're right Greggde! I should store it ready to use! I don't suppose the Green Fluid goes of at all...
Great topic this one very useful

Re: Porta Potti usage info?
I store mine empty, both the upper and lower tanks. Once it's clean it sits open and drys for a few days, then gets deoderant only after the first use. Whether or not I prefill the top tank before a trip depends on if we actually think we'll use it, and if we're planning to move it before using (putting in our Shower Tent).
