Power Tank

Beat me if there is a post existing but the search didn't take. So who is running a Power Tank? Are they Worth the money? They seem a little expensive to me. I do understand the Pros & Cons of the system but it's the cost that throws me. Anyone have a used one?

Power Tank

I use a powertank. Couldn't be happier.

One way to get one a little cheaper is to get a "scratch and dent" one. I got a back-up "scratch and dent" tank. Can't tell the difference.

OBTW, when I stopped by their shop their customer service was outstanding. AND they are about the friendliest people I have ever met.

Re: Power Tank

We too have it (with the portable scale to monitor usage) and are very happy with it. We use it regularly and not just for airing up from off-road. We get fill ups at welding supply businesses.

Woot,
What do you plan to use it for? Airing up tires may limit you to number of uses, and a compressor could be a better bet.

I have a Powertank in my Jeep and use it for the ARB airlockers as well as airing up tires. It is nice but I really think a compressor is more practical (for my uses).

Re: Power Tank

I have a 10# (I think, may be a 15#) Powertank. It used to be in my Land Rover when I owned it. They are great. I've heard you can fill many sets of tires from one tankload. Now that I have the ExtremeAir in the SMB, the powertank is in use in my photography studio to blow off art and frames before assembly. One fill seems to go on forever.

Re: Power Tank

Airing up tires for the most part. I thought that I'd ask & see how the folks liked the Power Tank. If I found a used one then I'd just take the easy way out. If I'm buying new then I'd have to go with the on board compressor. I'm not sure I want to shell out the $600 bucks yet!

Re: Power Tank

I use a 40cf SCUBA stage tank @ 3000psi.

I can get 4 dirt to pavement air ups on the SMB from it.

$5 a fill at the dive shop.

Power Tank

I wanted to get a Power Tank for a super quick air-up. IMHO, if you don't care for airing up your tires quickly, I would spend the extra $$$ for a good on-board air compressor.

Power Tank = $5-10 per fill up
On board Air = $0 for infinite fill up

Re: Power Tank

I am also considering the Power Tank vs Viair or Extreme Air.

The question has not yet been answered. How many air ups on a Power Tank? (on 33x12.50's)
Say from 20 psi to 70 psi x four each time of course.

I also would like to use an air wrench for the lugs nuts as 8 per wheel can wear a guy out.
Will these air compressors above truly drive an air wrench?

Or could I air up 4 or 5 times (16 to 20 tires) and change a flat tire or two on one tank (I would go the large tank) with the Power Tank?

This is the decision I need to make.
