Quickstove Review

These are available at a discount in Vendor Specials. Well worth the price, bias aside, there is already one in my van and I'll be buying more.

Re: Quickstove Review

Here's what I use when backpacking:

(I tried to use the youtube brackets, but was unsuccessful. Sorry.)

Stove weighs 2.6 oz. Spin it on the cartridge, unfold the arms, open the valve, click the micro piezo igniter and start cooking in 10 seconds. Flame is extremely adjustable; I can boil a half gallon of water in a couple of minutes or turn down to a low simmer and bake a cake in my 1.1 lb. Optima oven. A large canister costs me $10 at REI and lasts for quite a few hours, depending on how high you run it. Once I have an expedition vehicle, this will still go with me as my emergency backup.

Jage:

Thanks for the review video. That was very helpful. And the discount is very generous. It's on my list of something to add to my emergency supply.

Thanks,

Mac

Re: Quickstove Review

Jage ,
In lieu of Wax Paper and Matches , you might try for all of your fire making needs the common Cotton Ball lightly saturated with Petroleum Jelly along with a Metal Match/Ferro rod . This method is fool proof in all conditions and I think kinda fun ! Since I was. Boy I have always kept a Flint and Steel along with small pieces of Char Cloth (scorched cotton fabric) as an emergency fire making means and find the above very user friendly ,try it you'll like it ! Good source and web sight is

P.S.
They also carry the Hurricane/UCO type Matches that are great .

Re: Quickstove Review

Jage,

Great review. Thanks. Very cool addition of the washer/magnet and burn ring handle. Also really appreciate the tip about adding salt and pepper. Great idea.

Here are a couple of quick follow-up notes -

1. You should be able to easily open the can lid with a key as well.

2. You can place the can lid on the top of the cooking ring. This gives you a solid surface for cooking with a smaller pan or a cup it also allows you to dampen the heat a little if it gets to hot.

3. The wax is food-grade and no chemicals are used so there should be no concerns when cooking directly over the flame.

4. The fuel cells re-light very easily if left in the bottom of the can after they've been used but the thought of having a bag for the used fuel cell crumbs is a great idea.

Thanks again for the review. Let me know if you have any other questions.

- Spencer

By the way, we've added a Referral Code (SMBF4) to the site that gives forum members an extra $5 off per stove when they buy a 4 pack or more. Replacement fuel cells are available on the site now as well.
