Aha Steve, someone has thought of that! I got one of these awhile back to run Torque on and Android tablet while simultaniously running my Scangauge but I haven't rigged it up yet. Anyway, apparently they work and are a cheap solution for multiple OBDII toys.
Pearl says that will work. I asked wrt maintenance techs, which turns out isn't an issue as you can remove and reinstall the Pearl unit with no loss of connectivity. I didn't ask about recommended brands.
