#1 tool I’ve used for over 30 years is the
Sven Saw. When backpacking, I've heard people say "wood too big to break is too big to burn". That's a load of BS.
I also carry a typical hatchet but If I bring wood from home such as almond, I make sure I pack my hand maul. It's a small 20" wedge that I have yet to find on the market since it was purchaced.
For kindling I use power poles if I bring wood, but pine needles and small sticks is generally all I need.
To light the fire I use my trusty
cigar lighter which doubles as a soldering gun.
One of these days I'd like to purchase a electric hand chain saw.
