Trouble with Kenwood KDC X592 hands free system

>Has anyone had problems with the Kenwood linking up to your phone?

Mine shows the icon on the phone but will not it run hands free.

>Also it seems people are having a hard time understanding me thru the hands free mic. Any comments?

My work truck has the parrot system. It works great...wish I had gone that way. The Kenwood is brand new and the cell phone quality is not what I expected. I might have somehow turned off the hands free but the instructions don't address it.

>What turns the hands free on and off?

Thanks for any help...Dave

I assume you have correctly paired the phone to the Kenwood?

I have a blackberry tied into my Kenwood. On my phone there is a blue-tooth on-off button. If you have it, make sure it is set to on.

I don't have the Kenwood manual with me but I think there is a setting to always link up with a bluetooth device.

Regarding quality. As I said I have a Blackberry so the audio quality is not quite there regardless of the bluetooth or not. I do have to have the volume turned up really high to overcome the diesel.

Dave,

We were having the same voice quality issues. We relocated the mic from just below the speedo to the upper cubby (right in front of the driver's face). So far, it seems to be a big improvement. No one has complained yet.

Kenwood Blue Tooth

Blackeye,
Once paired with the cell of your choice you might try moving your Microphone around to different locations while communicating with someone on their phone , after having the same issue's with our SportsMobile on both the Verison and I Phone's we found that the best location was next to the driver side door pillar at the sun visor mounting plate . Now even the passenger in our EB-50 is able to communicate without screaming . If my description is unclear to you I would be happy to photograph for you .

Charlie I have linked up to the stereo and the phone shows it's connected but the system will not shut off the stereo and allow me to utilize the hands free mic. I can't find any info in the instructions that says how to turn that part of the stereo hands free off or on or even if that's possible. I'd like to shoot the guy that made the instructions...they suck The phone works great in my bucket truck but not in the van...??? I plan to totally disconnect from the kenwood, re enter the code and start all over. Randy from SMB says it should be working if the icon is on the phone.

Thanks for the mic tip blackeye , I will have it moved. I can see noise coming from the dash.

Dave

I will line up behind you on this one. The Kenwood manual is one of the worst I have ever read.

As for the problem at hand. If Randy or Rob can't help, try calling Kenwood direct. They tried very hard to help me with my XM issue that eventually resolved itself.
