I do carry a set of deep sockets, extensions and impact sockets for the larger sizes. I avoid using multi point sockets on the wheels. At least on my van the wheel lock is a different size.
Well, I don't need extra weight in my 9000 lb vehicle, but I'll be carrying this 4.5 lb 25" torque wrench with me ;-)

As luck would have it, there is another recent thread about torque wrenches started by one of our other female SMBer's.....

http://www.sportsmobileforum.com/for...ere-19649.html

and......as mentioned.....longer is better....way better. 140 ft-lbs is a lot.

After the porta-potty thread and now all this 'bigger is better' stuff about wrenches and sizes and this thread hasn't gone to the gutter yet? I'm so proud of you guys!

Waiting..........

Anne, search for the porta-potty thread if you want to see our true colors......and maturity...

Thanks! Even as a new SMB forum member, I, like you all, am proselytizing to everyone I know about verifying torque after wheels have been off, accompanied by the sad tragic story within this forum.

I'll be sure and check it out when I need a good laugh.

BTW, when I mentioned to my seattle host that I was dying to do the Baja trip, he said "You want to go off in the desert with a bunch of guys??!!" (He was picturing a bunch of off-road yahoos, possibly with red necks ... no offense to rednecks.)

I said, "No really, they're great guys, I can tell from the three I've met and the commentary on the forum."

Is the porta-potti thread going to ruin that for me?

Good guys, that thread just dropped to a junior high level mentality (of which I was a part).

There will always be somebody with a larger wrench than yours.
